And she rolls again

What's this? DnnCart.com is alive? That's right folks, the ball is rolling again. Exciting new developments in the project will be coming soon!

For now, everyone who is registered on the the site will need to retrieve your lost passwords and login. The passwords had to be reset due to a database glitch, so your old password won't work! Click on the login button, then click on forgot password.

More info on the project coming soon

Yet again, time has gone by without an update! Well, here's the update! Nothing has changed. I'll try to get working on DnnCart again in 2007, but no promises!

Weekend update for DnnCart

I didn't get to spend too much time on DnnCart this weekend. I did get started on creating the ability to have various options for products though. Hope to have some of that ironed out for a release later this week.

DnnCart Day 2.5

So after my blog post late last night I got back to work on DnnCart again. I actually got just about everything I wanted to do for a release done. Now all I have left is to clean up some code and make sure to get all my copyrights squared away before packaging up for download. I hope to have something together this afternoon.

DnnCart V2.0 Day 2

Well, I didn't get as far as I had hoped tonight, quite a few things jumped up on me this evening, BUT, I did get work done on DnnCart!

What I have left before the first release is to get the SQL Stored Procedures created and wire them up to the SqlDataProvider. I have the initial Products table created, as well as the AddProducts stored proc. I'll be getting the Update, Delete, GetProduct, and GetProducts functionality done tomorrow and put all of that out in my release.

I may stay up for a bit longer tonight and crank through some of that, though I know I will pay for it tomorrow!

DnnCart V2.0 Day 1

After farting around with Windows Vista the past two days, and getting VS 2005 and SQL Server Tools installed on this machine I've finally started on Development for the new DnnCart.

This is a complete ground up rewrite, and will actually be a new approach for me for the development process. I hope to get to the point where I'm posting a new build daily, or at least as often as I can get to working on the module, hopefully an hour or two each night.

Tomorrow is planned tol be my first build, 9/26/2006. In that build you'll have the ability to add/update a Product. In that build a Product will consist of only a few attributes, but I'll be adding new attributes over time. So, expect this tomorrow night.

Product
Name
Short Description
Long Description
Admin Interface for Editing Product
Sql for above code
Full C# Source Code

It won't be an installable module, but you will be able to add it to your own 4.3.5 development solution and start playing with it.

Like I said, this won't be a quick cycle for a fully functional module, it'll be done in small pieces, hopefully these small chunks will add up into a cool shopping cart module. I'll be using the knowledge from the last go around of DnnCart as a basis for design and definitely improvement.

I plan on utilizing the same model that DNN does for it's copyright/licensing. Essentially the code/module will be free for anyone to use, modify, sell, redistribute, the only requirement will be that my Copyright be maintained in the Source Code files themselves.

Time to do this again?

I'm thinking that DnnCart may be revived from the ashes it currently resides in. I'll see how things go in the next week. I'll be working on the DotNetNuke Wiki module for the Core Projects, if I can get some of that work offloaded to other developers I'll tackle getting DnnCart up and rolling again!

Where have you been?

It's been far too long since I've blogged here, so where have I been? I've been busy as crap lately. Here's some of the sites I've worked on since I last blogged here.

http://www.youthroots.com more to come on this project later, but this was a huge project that started 4 weeks ago, launched on 6/15/06.

http://www.stlouischildrens.org we got them upgraded to DNN 4.0.3 and installed the latest and greatest version of our AMS Module.

http://www.lightworksdistribution.com a quick DNN site and custom module

http://www.sccaforums.com lots of CommunityServer development going on over here

http://www.rocketracingforums.com another toy site, currently not running anything but DNN 4.3.1, more to come soon

http://www.natalieottiger.com Natalie's site is alive and kicking. I'm working on implementing the AMS module on this site for managing the content with a versioning workflow.

And that's not even all of them! I've also started workin on a project car. I have a 73 240Z that I plan to put a motor from a 1983 280ZX, turbo motor, into. I've also got a 1978 280Z 2+2 for parts sitting in the driveway.

Check out some of my YouTube videos!
